We all deserve a little TLC.
Cultivate healthier relationships—starting with yourself.
Cultivate healthier relationships—starting with yourself.
It’s hard to change—especially when you don’t have support.
You might be struggling with difficult thoughts like, “what if my family never accepts my life choices—will they ever accept me?”
Perhaps you’re battling indecisiveness and fear about whether you’re “good enough” to succeed, which prevents you from reaching your aspirations and goals.
Or maybe you feel confident and successful at times, but at other moments as if your shield for taking on the world is paper-thin?
Choosing a therapist is a big decision, and it isn’t something to take lightly. I understand that. For me, supporting someone in this way is a rewarding challenge and an honor.
When we work together, I hope you feel seen, understood, and supported. I blend compassion with a healthy sense of humor and perspective.
By taking note of what you share, and paying attention to the things you might not articulate, I’ll help you connect the dots and apply techniques and practices that fit your unique needs.
Therapy should be a safe, supportive space. When we work together you’ll be in good hands, with someone who is insightful, knowledgeable, approachable, and well-versed in effective techniques and tools to assist you. I utilize evidence-based practices and in general approach the work of therapy from a humanistic, integrative, and multi-modal framework that incorporates psychodynamic, relational, and cognitive behavioral interventions. For specific symptom relief, I have specialized training in structured interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and Mindfulness practices. I value a highly client-centered philosophy and approach; in a session, you are welcomed and encouraged to feel however you feel and express yourself however you wish to express yourself.
It’s important to my clinical work to stay up to date with current research to ensure the best possible treatment and care for my clients. I am actively engaged in my professional organizations and integrate the latest peer-reviewed clinical research findings into my therapeutic interventions.
I bring a sense of curiosity to therapy sessions. I like to think of our work together as the opening of a door or window onto something you may not have been aware of. When you care for the nooks and crannies of your psyche, you start to illuminate foggy and sometimes neglected spaces within yourself—and that’s when real growth happens.
Ultimately, I want to help you make different choices that change your life for the better.
Each client I work with is different, so I can’t say that therapy will help you achieve a particular outcome. But I can share with you how some of my clients have grown, changed, and expanded after starting therapy.
Many of my clients report feeling a deepening of their relationships and connections with others, more focused time to devote to personal success, and the ability to thrive with the freedom to embrace the foggier, hidden parts of themselves that once held them back.
Therapy often helps my clients build a strong foundation from which it’s safe to explore, take risks, and pursue creative, passionate, and purposeful work.
Thank you for considering me as your therapist. If you’re ready to start a conversation about how we can work together, I’d love to hear from you.
I regularly meet with clients at my comfortable private office. If you’re nearby, I welcome you to join me in my office in Rochester, NY. Local clients are also welcome to choose virtual support; it’s your preference.
When you choose online therapy or consultation, we can meet virtually while you’re in the comfort of your home or office. This is the most convenient service option. Fit therapy into your schedule and enjoy no commute!
Yes, I accept the following insurances: Aetna, Meritain, Nova and Independent Health. If I’m not contracted with your provider, we can still work together. I can provide you with a detailed receipt to submit to your insurance company for any out-of-network benefits your plan may provide.
We can have a discussion about your time commitment as we develop your treatment plan. We may develop a short-term plan with one specific goal. Or you may be seeking deeper insight into patterns in relationships or behaviors that are interfering with your life success, and this may entail a longer course of therapeutic treatment. Regardless, we will continue to revisit your progress throughout. Often, the course of therapy is initially weekly and transitions to every other week and eventually moves to monthly booster sessions prior to concluding.
Therapy is a financial and emotional investment. You’re considering investing in yourself and your well-being so that you can make changes that enhance your personal and, often, your professional life. I encourage you to consider what you hope to gain in therapy, and how that outcome could change your life for the better. Consider this: If you felt unburdened, who could you be? What value do you place on these life changing outcomes?
Some insurance companies provide reimbursement for out of network therapists, but you will want to check with your insurance provider if you have a plan with which I am not paneled.
I offer 50-minute individual sessions for $250 and 50-minute couples sessions for $250. Our initial intake session is $300.
I absolutely respect your privacy. The information you share in your sessions is confidential with a few exceptions (I am legally mandated to report instances of abuse or risks related to your personal safety). If you choose to use your health insurance, it is important to be aware that I am required to provide a diagnosis and any session notes that the insurance company may request. Having a mental health diagnosis on file can have an impact on future approval for applications in which one’s medical record will be reviewed (e.g. application for a Disability Insurance policy, Life Insurance policy, or adoption of a child, to name a few). Increased confidentiality is one of the reasons many individuals choose not to utilize health insurance benefits for mental health treatment and instead pay out of pocket.
One of the great benefits of online therapy is that you can have anything that you find comforting around you during your session. Our animals provide us with emotional support and I look forward to meeting yours on video! For clients who attend therapy appointments in my office, as much as I would love to meet your pets in person, I will have to (and look forward to) meeting them through photos and video.
